Subject: Employment

Hi
I'm a wannabe tradesman with several  power tools at my disposal.  Although I've been described as awkward, ungainly and clumsy,  I feel that, since I do not have binocular vision, I should be given special consideration as a sort of handicaped/disadvantaged employee.  I have two left hands, poor balance, and just enough knowledge to be really really dangerous.  I would love to be paid to drill up other peoples homes since my wife will no longer allow me to do so at home anymore.  I've just acquired a really big ass drill and am dying to see just how quickly it can drill up stuff; anything will do I am not particular.

I was greatly impressed with the work performed by Rogers on the gas line.  I also hear the call to use an unregulated trade as a sort of jumping off point into other areas of interest.  I see many possibilities, plumbing, electrical, roofing, just to name a few.  Could you provide me with a human resources contact at Rogers so I can continue in Rogers great tradition.  I feel this is just the position for me and am sure I have found my calling.

Mike

p.s. Please forward the requested information to the burn unit at the Ottawa General ospital since I will be staying there for the next few months.  Thank you in advance.

Although this isn't technically a rant, this submission did in fact make me laugh pretty hard. Now of course we all know it is a joke. How do we know it's a joke? This person must realize he is not really qualified to be an installer at ROGERS. By their standards, he's an executive.

Subject: Your website

I don't have cable-too expensive for what it provides (I'm thinking of getting StarChoice).

You are articulate, focused and extremely witty in your responses to people who write to defend Rogers Cable or to tell you off!  You are hilarious and just what a monopoly needs to keep them on their toes.

Keep up the good work!

Again, not really a rant...but when such an observant genius as 'Regan N.' is in our midst, how can you deny posting such a brilliant submission? Thank you Regan and I love my StarChoice.

Subject: Same rant, only this time i'm paying more...

I'm back with my next rant....
I have Rogers Hi-Speed Internet since Sympatico is really bad in my area... however I may need to switch anyways if this keeps up, I think i submitted a rant before when I had Internet Lite complaing about slow speeds... i upgraded to the full high speed, and now look at my speeds...

2022-01-02 16:28:03 EST: *66 / 62*
Your *download* speed : 66144 bps*, or 66 kbps*.
A 8 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your *upload* speed : 62676 bps*, or 62 kbps*.
Your connection hardly qualified as broadband, at least in that test

Same or lower speeds than on lite , only i'm paying more.... for less...

CorSter, the guy who can't wait until summer so he can wear his T-SHIRT...

P.S. Did you ever think of sweatshirts so I can buy one?

When I die I'm going to leave this web site to CorSter.

"Paying more for less" Isn't that ROGERS' new slogan? I know it's been their standard for everything for years now. Why on earth are you so surprised?

As far as sweatshirts go, as soon as I move (Feb. 27), I'm going to really get moving on an online store.

Subject: Thanks for the info

I had heard about your website and would have visited sooner if my Rogers internet connection had not been inexplicably down for the last 5 days. Thanks for providing a place to rant since as you know, I will die of old age before getting through to the technical support line.  Once I do get through, I am usually told they have no idea what the problem is, that no one else in my neighbour is online (perhaps my neighbours have already figured out that they should be with someone else) and that I should try again in a few hours (like I have nothing better to do with my life).  Sad thing is, when I placed this call, I was trying to get online to pay my Rogers invoice!

I have been having problems with Rogers for several months now and it is time to move on...thanks for listing my choices.

Looking forward to a non-Rogers life!

Oh sweet submitter, the future looks bright for you. I suppose even without my existence, 9 out of 10 camels end up with a broken back when they have ROGERS providing something and the decision to find an alternative becomes inevitable.

If I did help you find an alternative to make you happy, and suppose you were the only person I ever helped, I would still have one happy customer more than ROGERS.

Subject: Heavy Handed Satellite Signal Theft Commercials

Hi,

Cool site. I agree Rogers sucks, but until the CRTC decides that we can keep our numbers, a lot of us are stuck.

Anyways, I'm wondering if anyone out there is as offended at those satellite theft commercials as I am. Canadian cable companies for years stole U.S. TV signals and rebroadcast them to us, the Canadian consumers, without paying any royalties (And made a ton of money doing it). Isn't that the kettle calling the pot black? Canadian copyright law allows companies to rebroadcast signals if they are unmodified, and I think it was 10 years ago that the cable companies finally started paying a royalty on the programs that they modified. (for example, watching the Superbowl with those stupid local Canadian TV commercials. No wonder why people hate the local TV and cable companies.)

Back before consumer satellite dishes became affordable, the cable companies made a ton of money off of Canadian consumers. Now, with a little bit of competition, they want to lay a guilt trip on people for doing exactly what they used to do in the old days.

By the way, I don't have a dish and don't steal signals. I just get really offended at those self-righteous commercials everytime I see them rebroadcast over the US TV channel that the cable company is rebroadcasting.

I've been trying to find out some more facts on this issue, however, not having much luck. Any suggestions?

Regards,

Pat.

IhateROGERS.ca Comments

Pat, I don't have any suggestions for you, but if someone is reading this and can help Pat, send me an e-mail and I'll forward it to him. Those commercials crack me up and are so pathetic it's sad. If I ever shoplifted something, got caught and was brought home by the police when I was a kid, and then on top of all that, said to my father, "But dad, you steal satellite signals" I'd still be picking up my teeth!!

In my opinion people with black / grey market dishes should be commended. Not for finding an alternative to ROGERS, but for all they have to put up with. Cards getting zapped, scripts getting looped, uploading new scripts, finding a source for those scripts, bootstraps, new cards, the problems are endless. There's your ad campaign. Show the trouble and work involved in maintaining one of these dishes and forget about the guilt trip on "stealing the signal". I have a SONY dish and receiver sitting in my basement for 5 years and I won't put it up because of the hassle involved.

The truth is, if you're not a real super sports junkie and you can live without seeing Howard Stern on 'E!' and you don't mind getting your porn from the Internet, a Canadian dish gets you about the same programming and content.
